This means getting started on charging your car at home is as simple as charging any other battery-operated device. Charging this way is however the slowest charging method available and relies on you having outdoor access to the standard socket.
This option has controls to prevent electrical overload and will adjust power accordingly. Various cost savings on this option, from off-peak hours charging to save on energy bills and a grant of up to €600 towards the installation available from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
So as well as charging your EV at home you can also charge it on ESB’s nationwide network of publicly accessible charging points in various locations such as on-street, motorway service stations, shopping centres and car parks located throughout Ireland.
They also make life easy by offering an interactive Charge Point Map and eCar Connect app to help you plan your electric journeys.
There are three types of chargers on the ESB public charging network; Standard (up to 22kW), Fast (up to 50kW) and High Power (up to 150kW).
